Exploiting Intra-Object Dependencies in Parallel Simulation

چکیده
This paper introduces the notion of weak causality that models the intra-object parallelism in parallel discrete event simulation. In this setting, a run where events are executed at each object according to their timestamp is a correct run. The weak causality relation allows to deene the largest subset of all runs of a simulation that are equivalent to the timestamp-based run. Finally, we describe an application of weak causality to optimistic synchronization (Time Warp) by introducing a synchronization protocol that reduces the number of rollbacks and their extent.

Speckle Reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images in Wavelet Domain Exploiting Intra-scale and Inter-scale Dependencies
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images are inherently affected by a multiplicative noise-like phenomenon called speckle, which is indeed the nature of all coherent systems. Speckle decreases the performance of almost all the information extraction methods such as classification, segmentation, and change detection, therefore speckle must be suppressed. Despeckling can be applied by the multilooki...
متن کاملA Framework for Exploiting Object Parallelism in Distributed Systems
To support parallel computing in a distributed object-based computing platform, a uniform high performance distributed object architecture layer is necessary. In this paper, we propose a distributed object-based framework called DoHPC to support parallel computing on distributed object architectures. We present the use of dependence analysis technique to exploit intra-object parallelism and an ...

Cooperative arms are two or more arms in series which assume the structure of a parallel robot on account of gripping an intermediary object, and are commonly used in accurate assembly industries, coaxialization, movement of object, etc. Gripping an intermediary object is one of the complicated subjects in analysis of cooperative arms, whose analysis is mostly dependent upon the manner the obje...
متن کاملModeling Intra-object Parallelism in Parallel Discrete Event Simulation
In parallel discrete event simulation, a run in which events are executed at each object according to their timestamp is a correct run (i.e., it satisses causal-ity). In such a run, the execution order of events at any object corresponds to the total order imposed on them by timestamps. In this paper we introduce the notion of weak causality between simulation events. Such a relation deenes a p...
متن کاملParallel Spatial Pyramid Match Kernel Algorithm for Object Recognition using a Cluster of Computers
This paper parallelizes the spatial pyramid match kernel (SPK) implementation. SPK is one of the most usable kernel methods, along with support vector machine classifier, with high accuracy in object recognition. MATLAB parallel computing toolbox has been used to parallelize SPK. In this implementation, MATLAB Message Passing Interface (MPI) functions and features included in the toolbox help u...
